An excerpt from It by Craig Groeschel:
At Mars Hill, [Mark] Driscoll and the leaders are focused on getting Jesus to men. Mark says, "If you get the young men, you also win the war for the future." He explains that there are between eleven and thirteen million more Christian women than Christian men. Sixty percent of Christians are female. He expresses excitement over the number of women who are followers of Christ, while sounding the alarm that most churches are not attracting, converting, and deploying godly, gifted, competent Christian men. When I asked Mark what else he would like to add, he said, "If I had three final suggestions, they would be get the men, get the men, get the men."
And what does it mean to "get the men"? I want to write a series of posts on what it means to get the man. They will be developed under the presumption that to get the man means more than just him being in the room. I know what it means to be in the room and not have me. And I know what it is to see a man that is had, and it's an explosive, contagious, impossible reality. A man that is had operates from 2 Peter 1:3-4: His divine power has given us everything we need for life and godliness through our knowledge of him who called us by his own glory and goodness. Through these he has given us his very great and precious promises, so that through them you may participate in the divine nature and escape the corruption in the world caused by evil desires.
I'm not a man, but I'd love to see this happening. To see more men really involved and excited about God and leading people with their example.
