...From the Hands of Time

Here I am...in the realm of blogs...but now as a blogger myself. I'm gonna give this a try, since I have made it a daily routine to saturate myself in the blogs of everybody else. I'm suppressing this idea that blogging is a competitive thing, because I'm afraid I'll never inspire and entertain like some of my favorite bloggers like Pastor Steven Furtick, Perry Noble, Rob Shepherd or the gorgeous author of BunchofBarrons. Even if I am slow to gain any followers, I'm sure blogging will be a cathartic, creativity-stimulating thing for me, or at minimum another venue for me to repackage the brilliance of others. I have had the tendency in my career of writing scholarly research papers to be rather wordy. So, at the advice of my wife and even some professors, I'll try and be more conversational as I blog. A note on the title, "Steal the Rush": I stole it. Not from another blog or website but from a lyric from a song by none other than Shinedown. The lyric reads,

Even now you hide behind
Those imitations in your mind
Through every act
From the middle to the end
You have played the part as your only friend
You steal the rush
From the hands of time

And they'll never catch up with you

Life often is a blur, so I intend to write as a way to slow down or steal the rush and linger on a concept, experience, Scripture verse, quote, video, obsession, gripe, or a person...and on and on. So here we go...
